Remote Desktop Commander Suite

The Remote Desktop Commander Suite is a data aggregation and analysis workhorse. Running 24/7, it’s constantly grabbing data from your session hosts and infrastructure role servers. Session information, performance counters, event logs, you name it. It gathers everything it needs to generate incredibly robust dashboards and reporting to highlight how your RDS collections, Citrix farms, and AVD host pools are running. Here’s what it can help you with:

  • User activity monitoring (time tracking, idle/active time, websites visited, screenshot recording)
  • Performance tracking (diagnose the users, services, processes that are putting too much load (CPU/memory) on your terminal servers)
  • Connection quality (track latency, loss rate, retransmission rate, bandwidth consumed, etc)
  • Security (geolocate/track logins and login failures on gateways and session hosts)
  • Licensing (find out what users run what programs, track SPLA, RDS SAL/CAL usage, etc)

Premium Management Features

Premium Management Features is a special feature overlay that runs on top of our free Remote Desktop Commander Lite client. It fixes many major management shortcomings of RDS, WVD, and Citrix environments, such as:

  • The inability to properly shadow multiple monitor (multimon) sessions, including RemoteApp sessions
  • The inability to “live monitor/audit” multiple sessions at once, should your managers have that need
  • The inability to shadow in Citrix without dependencies on Remote Assistance and the requirement to always seek consent before shadowing
  • The lack of a way to troubleshoot RDP disconnects and other Terminal Services Client connection issues experienced on the user’s Windows PC when they are using MSTSC to connect
  • The inability to properly delegate out shadowing and other management tasks (logging off users, disconnecting users, sending messages, etc) to help desk and support staff, without making them admins on session hosts and connection brokers
  • A comprehensive RDS Event Viewer that can quickly gather relevant event logs from multiple session hosts and infrastructure servers in a single window, with advanced grouping, sorting, and filtering features.

Remote Desktop Canary

Remote Desktop Canary continually monitors your RDS, AVD, and other EUC environments to make sure they are responding and logging on users properly. How many times has a user complained to you that they cannot login to RDS or WVD, it’s taking too long for them to login, or they get a black screen instead of their desktop, etc, etc? And yet you had no idea there was a problem, because conventional network monitoring solutions didn’t alert you since all of the services were up and the CPU and memory load on the servers looked fine.

To prevent that scenario above, Remote Desktop Canary performs full synthetic RDP logins to RDS collections and/or individual servers to verify that they are a.) up and online, b.) that they respond within a predetermined number of seconds, AND that c.) the test user receives their desktop in a timely fashion. It does this on a recurring basis, sending you alerts if any problems begin to develop, and also has the ability to send you screenshots, error codes, and other diagnostic information.

Pricing for our Complete Monitoring and Management Bundle is determined by the total number of RDS session host/gateway servers or AVD host VMs in your deployment. This covers your Remote Desktop Commander Suite licensing, and as you move up the quantity tiers, you are also granted additional Premium Management Features per user licensing and additional Remote Desktop Canary workflow licensing.

We’ve done extensive research, and the licensing at the different tiers should provide enough licensing for respective RDS/AVD environment sizes in most cases. But, if you need extra licensing (e.g. more Premium Management Features user licenses if you have a large help desk staff for instance), just contact us for a quote and we’ll provide you with the exact quantities you need at a very affordable price.
