Prerequisites to Monitor Windows Workstations, VDI Hosts, and AVD Hosts

If you will be using Remote Desktop Commander to monitor Windows workstations, such as physical Windows 8/Windows 10/Windows 11 systems inside a corporate firewall, virtualized Windows 8/Windows 10/Windows 11 systems running on a Remote Desktop Virtualization Host, or multi-user Windows 10/11 systems running in a Azure Virtual Desktop host pool, please use this checklist to ensure that these devices can be polled successfully from our software.

1.) Make sure our service account in your Windows domain is an administrator on all of the monitored workstations.

2.) On each Windows workstation to be monitored, please make sure the following Windows Firewall exceptions are enabled, IF the Windows Firewall is enabled on those systems.


Remote Service Management
Remote Event Log Management
WMI
Windows Remote Management

3.) On each Windows workstation to be monitored, please make sure that the following Registry value is set.

Key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server
Value: AllowRemoteRPC must be set to 1

4.) On each Windows workstation to be monitored, please make sure that the RemoteRegistry service is ENABLED, and set to Automatic startup.
