I have just installed the Remote Desktop Commander Suite, assigned a service account, linked it to a database, and added computers for monitoring. When I launch the Remote Desktop Commander Client, it still operates in Lite Mode, and I cannot access reporting or dashboards. How do I fix this?

If you installed the Remote Desktop Commander Suite on the same system/server that was previously running only the Free (Lite) Remote Desktop Commander Client, the Client will still operate in Lite mode because it still has its old configuration file in place.

The solution is to delete the old configuration data file, and then relaunch the Remote Desktop Commander Client. The Client will then detect the presence of the full Remote Desktop Commander Suite, and will auto configure itself to access the full Suite features, including reporting and dashboards. Here’s how to do this:

  1. Using Windows File Explorer, type %APPDATA% in the address bar and hit enter.
    APPDATA
  2. Navigate to RDPSoft, Remote Desktop Commander, and then visit each Version Number folder.  Once you find the Version Number folder with an RDRClient.dat file in it, delete that RDRClient.dat file.
    Delete RDRClient.Dat File
  3. After deleting the file, relaunch the Remote Desktop Commander Client. The Client will now operate in fully integrated Suite mode, and will give you access to reporting and dashboards.
